Great update!

Love the minimalist look and how easy it is browse. Solid work!

OK

Seems hard to personalize.

Doesnt work

I could not get past the startup screen. Deleted it.

Simple and concise

Clean app that gives you great news journalism

Are you kidding?

Just did the latest update, cant get past the startup screen. Guess Im cancelling my digital plus subscription. What a joke.

Clean, easy to navigate

The new version of this app puts all the content I care about front and center! Easy to navigate and very clean-looking.

Still too limited

I like the apps functionality but it still has significant content limitations. Example: On the Tribunes website I can drill down from the Blue Sky section to its Technology subsection where my real interest lies. Cant do that with the app. And when I look at the apps content it is more limited than the website content. Lots more stories on the website, and in more depth. Use the app if you want news lite and stick to the website for full coverage.

Avoid

No navigation with the subsection.

A more stable app

Seems to crash less often than it used to.

Well Written News

This app is easy to use. The journalism is excellent

Doesnt work

Never gives the whole article. Just stops in mid sentence Then just ads

Good format

Love the fact that all the articles are available to read.

Inexplicably bad

Its baffling that in 2015 a simple newspaper app can be as bad as this is. It cant seem to remember login information and frequently locks up in the process, often telling me I havent entered an email address when I have. And then when youre in, the app doesnt really do more than the website. The one feature I wanted to use this app for is to read the paper offline,a but the controls for this are really non-intuitive. It takes a while to load the paper to read offline, and if you happen to click the read offline button again it starts from scratch and deletes everything you we already downloaded. If the paper wants to charge for digital access it really needs to step up its game.

Looks great, loads quickly

Tribune really stepped up and delivered with this update. Stability, UI, and load times are all better in this version. Well done!

Getting better, needs more work

Keeps getting better. Needs a few more things to be 5 stars. - Would be nice if they would add sections for the Cubs, Hawks, Bulls & Sox, not just the Bears. (I know you can use keywords to create groupings but its NOT the same). - Would be nice if you could designate specific articles or sections for offline reading, not just the whole paper. - Please give us the option to make all offline downloading happen automatically in the background, every day, so its ready to go when you wake up. - Please give users an option to have the app resume (upon opening) in the last article you were reading, instead of defaulting to a completely refreshed view of the home page every time. Its frustrating having to navigate back to finish an article you were reading each time you go to another app. ------- (Previous Review) "relatively better than last pile of xxxx app" this app is so much better than the tribs last (awful) app that its hard to be critical. sure it could be better, but now at least its actually possible to browse Chicago news on your iPhone. worth getting. and please, keep the updates coming.

Decent App - Great Writing - Content Light

Im a digital subscriber - I pay for the right to access content. The app is intuitive to navigate, and the Tribune has a deep stable of talented and interesting writers; from Steve Rosenbloom, David Haugh, to John Kass. The Trib has a nice balance of world, national, and local content; along with a balanced point of view - not all left and not all right. By and large you can tell where the columnists are coming from. Thats not to say a few self-righteous, in-your-face, insulting articles dont get published; those authors dont seem to last too long. I like my news like Sgt. Friday, just the facts; and a point of view is nice - but the views need to encompass both sides. And to be honest, I like other points of view other than my own; it helps me think and try to understand the other side. My frustration and what holds me back from more stars is the lack of content. Net-net, great paper, content, and writers; just give me more.

Stupid Ad Setup

I pay $5 a month for content on this app and I have to wait 5 seconds for what?? Get the hell outta here.

Needs work

So f****** irritating. Crashes. Doesnt remember that you are a subscriber. Click through from email and you cant find the article you want

Thanks for nothing

Crushes, not updated. Poor quality app

Slick, simple interface

Good balance of local and national/international news and the app itself is simple and easy to navigate. I appreciate the dark colors and simple layout. Easy to read and not hard on the eyes at night... And good editorial content with withering focus on keeping chicago pols honest (which they rarely are!)...
